This month there are signs of the approaching Spring, with bulbs appearing and wildlife waking up as light levels and temperatures increase. As the garden comes to life again, it’s time to prune shrubs and climbers, such as Wisteria as well as evergreen hedges.

What to do in the garden in February

  • Pruning time for Clematis, Wisteria, Winter Jasmine, Hydrangea, Buddleia, Cornus, Mahonia, Evergreen shrubs, Climbing and Bush roses.
  • Sow early seed under glass with extra heat and light.
  • Plant summer flowering bulbs.
  • Cut back Sedum.
  • Sow Sweet Peas.
  • Chit Potatoes.
  • Protect the wildlife within your garden by creating habitats. Take a look at our wildlife habitats.
With spring on the way it’s worth preparing your lawn for the season ahead.
Try installing lawn edging, which gives a neat and tidy appearance and makes maintenance easier.
